This photographic process creates a positive photographic image on a sheet of glass using the wet plate collodion process. I just learned it. It's a lovely process full of things like ether, grain alcohol, gum sandarac, oil of lavender, cyanide, (I was not allowed to use the cyanide) and fire. It's like medieval science! The other thing about this process is that the piece of glass is sensitized, exposed, and developed all while it is still wet. And all this must happen in about 10 minutes or less. I absolutely loved it. It was a refreshing break from my usual wandering, stealthy mode of shooting, as I was forced to sit still with a 4 x 5 view camera for about two weeks and focus on one log and all the stuff I could put on top of it.
